Irrigation of landscaped areas shall be prohibited. Use of water to wash any motor vehicle, motorbike, boat, trailer, airplane or other vehicle not occurring on the premises of a commercial car wash or commercial service station is prohibited. Further, such washing may be granted a variance from this restriction in accordance with Section XI of the drought contingency plan if the health, safety, and welfare of the public is contingent upon frequent vehicle cleansing, such as garbage trucks and vehicles used to transport food and perishables. Such vehicle washing at commercial car washes and commercial service stations shall be allowed only between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The filling, refilling or adding of water to any Aesthetic Water Use is prohibited.

No applications for new, additional, expanded, or increased-in-size water service connections, meters, service lines, pipeline extensions, mains, or water service facilities of any kind shall be approved if the District’s Operator and Engineer determine that such approval(s) would have a substantial negative impact on existing Customers.

As summer approaches and temperatures begin to climb, it is important to remember to conserve water both inside and outside the home. As seen in the graphic below, much of the greater Houston area is experiencing some form of drought conditions:

Reducing water consumption and irrigation will help protect the District’s water supply infrastructure and the aquifer from which the District receives its water supply. If the District’s water supply decreases and/or further pressure is placed on the District’s water supply infrastructure, the District’s Drought Stage Contingency could progress to a more restrictive stage, which is why it is important to conserve water and follow the Drought Stage Contingency requirements.
